Juan Gil 2010

$16.99

100% Monastrell from 45 year old vines. Grapes used to make this wine are found in vineyards around 700 metres high in La Aragona. Chalky and rocky limestone soils that are very poor in nutrients make this an ideal location to grow grapes of Monastrell, with a low yield of about 1.04 Tons/acre. Fermented in small, open stainless steel vats and aged 12 months in French oak. Juan Gil Monastrell has a very dark cherry color with purple tones, showing in the nose powerful aromas of red berries, toasted and smoked notes from aging in the oak barriques. Good structure with ripe and sweet tannins. Very long in the mouth with a perfect balance between fruit, alcohol and oak tones.
