Espolon
Tequila Blanco

"Espolon Tequila has long been a cult favorite. It never got a lot of fanfare, but aficionados in-the-know had routinely sung its taste praises. Then it went away for almost 2 years. A new distillery owner brought the brand back with bold new graphics, a hip marketing campaign, and a MUCH lowered price!" The Lip... TequilaWhisperer.com
"Clear. Aromas of waxy honeycomb, dried tropical fruits, delicate pickling spices, and creamy meringue. Super smooth and silky with a dryish medium-to-full body. Graceful tropical flower blossom, dates, minerals, and subtle roasted pepper notes illuminate the finish. Incredibly clean, pure and elegant. International Review of Spirits Award: Gold Medal

When it comes to wine liquor and beer the number one objective of the big name brands is cutting costs and saving money. They could care less about quality and would rather spend millions on advertising than spend a minute making better products. Tequila is a case in point. Brand Names like Jose Cuervo, Sauza and Patron have one thing in common, they're not very good. The first 2 are mixtos and are made out of the worst things you could imagine then have artificial colors added. Patron in my opinion is just pure marketing hype... I tasted through the line 3 times at industry events in the last 18 months and it never tastes the same. On the nose and on the palate it runs from terrible to barely passable. Spectacular it is not. Why because it is probably distilled in a variety of distilleries that have no connection to a traditional estate.
Wanna be Tequilas are a common problem these days. Companies, will put together a beautiful bottle and packaging, then come up with some cock and bull story to create a fake heritage, then fill the bottles with tequila they buy in tanker trucks. There are so many of these wanna be brands out there that the price of Tequila from many of the traditional estates has come down considerably creating an opportunity for you the consumer. Today you can drink great tequila for the price of a mixto.
