Alfred Eames Cellars
Carmena
Paonia Colorado

$19.99

Paonia is in a valley on the East Side of the Grand Mesa it's Colorado's own Garden of Eden.  Not as hot in the summer time as the Grand Valley many of the best farms, ranches and dairies in the state are located here.  It is also home to some of Colorado's best wine makers including Alfred Eames.

Carmena, a blend based on the Carmine grape with some Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Alfred Eames Cellars' wine is traditionally crafted from grapes grown in the high elevations of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Their red wines are fermented in open vats, barrel aged in French oak, unfined and unfiltered.

... dark and brooding give this bottle a little air....  15% Alcohol but not oppressive, ruby red in color, beautiful dark red fruit flavors and a hint of pomegranate but not sugary.  This is a very well structured bottle of wine with a lovely backbone of tannins.  Lost all it's nose funk when tasted the second day with wine broker John Maxwell.  Both of us agree that Carmine is a very sophisticated bottle of wine... good to drink now but worth stashing away for several years.
